S2 aims to continue momentum against Cascadia rival

PORTLAND, Ore. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 will look to build on a big victory in its last outing when it heads to face Cascadia rival the Portland Timbers 2 on Thursday night at Providence Park. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Portland Timbers 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 2-17-3, 9pts

  • Portland fell 1-0 to Sacramento Republic FC on Sunday afternoon in its last outing, keeping the side nine points adrift at the bottom of the Western Conference.

  • T2 outshot Republic FC 14-11 for the game, but Wilson Kneeshaw’s early goal for the visitors stood as the winner as T2 lost a second consecutive outing.

  • Irvin Parra recorded a goal and assist in the victory, moving to six goals on the season for S2, while Zach Mathers added his team-leading ninth goal.

  • S2 enters Thursday night’s contest three points back of eighth-place OKC Energy FC in the Western Conference, but has only nine games remaining in the regular season.

  • Mathers has recorded 29 key passes this season, putting him in the Top 20 in the USL in that category.
