Goalkeeper Gavin Krenecki and defender Dominic Vegaalban called up for second time

Sacramento Republic FC Academy players Gavin Krenecki and Dominic Vegaalban have received a call-up to the U.S. U-14 Boys’ National Team Camp that is taking place in Portland, Ore. This is the second call-up for both players, who were called up together last year for the U-14 BNT camp in November.

Krenecki and Vegaalban are two of 36 players that have been called up by U-14 BNT Head Coach Clint Peay. Out of the 36 players included, 33 players have never been called up to a U.S. Youth National Team camp before. The camp will see the U-14 BNT play an intrasquad match plus friendlies against the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders FC Development Academy teams.

Both Krenecki and Vegaalban have been with the Academy since the 2016-2017 season when the U.S. Soccer Development Academy was expanded to include U-12 and U-13 age groups. Currently, Krenecki plays for the Republic FC Academy U-15 team and Vegaalban plays for the Academy U-17 team.

The Academy U-12, U-15, U-16/17 and U-18/19 teams will kick off their 2017-2018 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 2, with the U-12s taking on Ajax United, while the U-15s, U-16/17s and U-18/19s will face their Real So Cal counterparts. The Academy U-13 and U-14 teams will begin their season on Saturday, Sept. 9 against Silicon Valley Soccer Academy. See the full Academy schedule at ussoccerda.com.
