Orlando, Ottawa look to build on victories in playoff push

ORLANDO, Fla. – Ninth-place Orlando City B and 10th-place Ottawa Fury FC sit one point apart in the race for the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs as they meet on Wednesday night at Orlando City Stadium for a crucial Eastern Conference clash. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, and the Video Review system will be in use.

Orlando City B news and notes

  • Current record: 6-6-10, 28pts

  • Orlando earned a 1-0 victory against the Richmond Kickers on Saturday night to break a run of six consecutive draws in league action.

  • Hadji Barry scored the only goal of the game as Orlando ran its undefeated streak to eight games, with the side having gone 2-0-6 since a 1-0 win against the Rochester Rhinos on June 23.

  • Pierre Da Silva recorded the assist on Barry’s goal, giving the U.S. Youth International seven for the season, one behind the league-leaders.

  • Orlando is level on points with the eight-place New York Red Bulls II opening the week’s action, which also sees the side visit the first-place Charlotte Independence on Saturday night.

  • Fury FC recorded a 3-1 victory against the Charlotte Independence on Saturday night at TD Place that broke Charlotte’s 12-game undefeated streak.

  • Gerardo Bruna recorded a goal and assist in the victory, and was named on Tuesday to the USL Team of the Week for his performance.

  • Ottawa announced on Tuesday that Head Coach and GM Paul Dalglish had resigned his position, and that former Canadian international Julian de Guzman would serve as the interim in both positions.

  • De Guzman had been Dalglish’s assistant throughout this season, after previously concluding his playing career for Fury FC after making 89 appearances for Canada.
