Louisville City FC news and notes

Current record: 10-4-5, 34pts

Louisville City will be happy to return home following their 3-1 loss to Charlotte Independence in Charlotte last Saturday.

Mark-Anthony Kaye scored the only goal for Louisville in that match, coming just three minutes into the second half, and raising hopes of a comeback, but Louisville could not haul in a strong Charlotte side.

Louisville will be happy at having dominated possession in that match, and will be hoping to convert that possession in to goals in such a vital derby.

For the first time in club history, Louisville is selling standing room tickets for the match against their fierce rivals.

FC Cincinnati news and notes

Current record: 8-7-7, 31pts

FC Cincinnati comes in to the River Cities Cup match following a dramatic 2-2 draw against Orlando City B last Saturday.

After Kyle Greig took just six minutes to open the scoring, Cincinnati conceded two and looked like losing the match before Danni Konig saved a point with a winner in the second minute of stoppage time.

That goal continued a strong run of form for Konig who has now scored in four straight matches, while Greig’s performance saw him earn a place on the USL Team of the Week bench.

Cincinnati is scoring hot right now, with 12 goals in their last five league matches, helping them to a 3-1-1 record in that stretch.

Dallas Jaye and Aodhan Quinn will be suspended for this match.
