Charleston Battery news and notes

Current record: 10-5-7, 37pts

Charleston Battery suffered a loss on Saturday as they fell 1-0 to Toronto FC at Ontario Soccer Center to extend their winless run.

Battery had the bulk of possession, and chances in the match but they just couldn’t make that count and trouble the scoreboard, and will be grateful to be home where their record (7-1-4) is much better.

Charleston Battery is winless in its last six games (0-3-3) but has kept in touch at the top of the Eastern Conference, just two points behind leaders, and Southern Derby rivals, Charlotte Independence

New York Red Bulls II news and notes

Current record: 8-11-3, 27pts

The New York Red Bulls II managed a 2-1 win against Rochester Rhinos in their match on Saturday evening.

The Red Bulls managed to lead 2-0 before conceding thanks to a penalty with Arun Basuljevic and Stefano Bonomo scoring the goals, for Basuljevic it was his first professional goal while Bonomo earned a place on the USL team of the week for his performance.

It was a mixed game for Basuljevic as he received a straight red card in the 82nd minute for violent conduct after an altercation with Kendaro Forbes, earning himself a three game suspension, the first of which he will serve in this match.

While their home record (7-6-0) is fairly strong, the Red Bulls have only won once on the road, losing their last three away from MSU Soccer Park.

Series Notes

New York won the last meeting between the two sides, 2-1 at MSU Soccer Park in May.
