USL Discipline Report – Week 20

TAMPA, Fla. – The following is the USL’s discipline report for Week 20 of the 2017 United Soccer League season:

The New York Red Bulls II’s Arun Basuljevic and Rochester Rhinos’ Kenardo Forbes have both been handed three-game suspensions following their red cards for violent conduct this past Saturday at MSU Soccer Park. Forbes served the first game of his suspension on Tuesday night as the Rhinos faced the Harrisburg City Islanders, and will also miss the team’s games against the Charleston Battery (Aug. 19) and Saint Louis FC (Aug. 26). Basuljevic will miss the Red Bulls II’s games against the Charleston Battery (Aug. 12), FC Cincinnati (Aug. 19) and Ottawa Fury FC (Aug. 27).

Ottawa Fury FC’s Shane McEleney will also serve a three-game suspension for violent conduct after review of an incident in Saturday’s game against Bethlehem Steel FC by the Independent Disciplinary Panel. McEleney will miss Fury FC’s games against the Charlotte Independence (Aug. 12), Orlando City B (Aug. 16) and the Tampa Bay Rowdies (Aug. 19).

Two other players will serve a one-game suspension after being ejected for receiving two yellow cards this past week. The Rochester Rhinos’ Joe Farrell served his suspension on Tuesday night against the Harrisburg City Islanders, and the Charlotte Independence’s Enzo Martinez will serve his suspension on Wednesday night against Toronto FC II.

Three players have received their fifth yellow card of the season, and will serve a one-game suspension for caution accumulation this week. Saint Louis FC’s Konrad Plewa will miss Thursday’s game against Tulsa Roughnecks FC, FC Cincinnati’s Aodhan Quinn will miss Saturday’s game with Louisville City FC, and Real Monarchs SLC’s Sebastian Velasquez will miss Saturday’s game with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.

Two players received their fifth yellow cards of the season last week, and have served their respective one-game suspensions. The LA Galaxy II’s Alejandro Covarrubias was awarded his fifth caution against Orange County SC on Aug. 2 and served his suspension against Phoenix Rising FC this past Saturday. Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2’s David Norman Jr. was awarded his fifth yellow card against Rio Grande Valley FC on Aug. 2, and served his suspension this past Saturday against Sacramento Republic FC.

Real Monarchs SLC staff member Alex Caparelli has been suspended one game after being sent from the bench on Aug. 5 against OKC Energy FC, and will serve his suspension this Saturday as the Monarchs host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.

The following 34 players enter their upcoming matches one caution away from a yellow card accumulation suspension. A fifth caution would result in a one-game suspension and undisclosed fine. Here is the breakdown per club:

  • Charlotte Independence (1): Enzo Martinez

  • FC Cincinnati (2): Sem de Wit, Kenney Walker

  • Harrisburg City Islanders (2): Mouhamed Dabo, Abass Mohammed

  • Louisville City FC (1): Paco Craig

  • New York Red Bulls II (2): David Abidor, Dan Metzger

  • OKC Energy FC (1): Coady Andrews

  • Orlando City B (2): Paul Clowes, Seb Hines

  • Phoenix Rising FC (3): Omar Bravo, JJ Greer, Didier Drogba

  • Pittsburgh Riverhounds (1): Danny Earls

  • Portland Timbers 2 (1): Rennico Clarke

  • Real Monarchs SLC (1): Michael Gallagher

  • Reno 1868 FC (2): Jordan Murrell, Lindo Mfeka

  • Rio Grande Valley FC (1): Todd Wharton

  • Rochester Rhinos (1): Wal Fall

  • Sacramento Republic FC (1): Trevin Caesar

  • San Antonio FC (1): Ben Newnam

  • Swope Park Rangers (1): Liam Doyle

  • Tampa Bay Rowdies (1): Keith Savage

  • Tulsa Roughnecks FC (1): Jorge Luis Corrales

The following are one caution away from a yellow card accumulation suspension for receiving an eighth caution, which would result in a one-game suspension and undisclosed fine:

  • Orlando City B (1): Richie Laryea

  • San Antonio FC (1): Stephen McCarthy

  • Tampa Bay Rowdies (1): Damion Lowe
