Battery look to bounce back in visit to Riverhounds

PITTSBURGH – The Charleston Battery will try to snap their first two-game losing streak of the season when they visit the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Wednesday night at Highmark Stadium, with the Hounds also looking to get back in the win column after three successive draws. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds news and notes

  • Current record: 5-7-7, 22pts

  • The Riverhounds played to a 0-0 draw on Saturday night against the Rochester Rhinos to edge up into 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

  • The shutout was Trey Mitchell’s fifth of the season as he marked his return from injury with a two-save performance against the Rhinos.

  • The Riverhounds would move into the top eight in the Eastern Conference with a win on Wednesday night as they sit two points behind the eighth-place New York Red Bulls II.

  • Corey Hertzog leads the Riverhounds with six goals, but hasn’t found the net since scoring against Orlando City B on June 3.

Charleston Battery news and notes

  • Current record: 10-4-5, 35pts

  • The Battery suffered a second consecutive defeat on Saturday night as the Tampa Bay Rowdies won 2-0 at Al Lang Stadium.

  • The contest marked the second consecutive game Charleston was shut out, after scoring in every previous game this season.

  • The Battery were last held scoreless in back-to-back defeats in losses to Toronto FC II and the Rochester Rhinos on July 24-26, 2015.

  • Charleston will remain without USL leading scorer Romario Williams on Wednesday night as Jamaica takes on the United States in the Final of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup (9:45 p.m. ET | FS1, Univision).
