Kings’ Cup to be decided on Saturday night in Saint Louis

FENTON, Mo. – Saint Louis FC and Louisville City FC will decide the home of the Kings’ Cup on Saturday night at Toyota Park – Saint Louis when the rivals meet for the second and final time this regular season with the hosts looking to build on a big win a weekend ago. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and the Video Assistant Referee system will be in use.

Saint Louis FC news and notes

  • Current record: 5-7-4, 19pts

  • Saint Louis broke a six-game winless streak last Saturday night as it defeated the Charleston Battery 1-0 in front of a sellout crowd of 5,342 at Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis.

  • Octavio Guzman scored the only goal of the game in the second half with a fine free kick, while Adam Grinwis recorded a four-save shutout.

  • The game was the first in which the Battery had been held scoreless in the 2017 regular season, and marked Saint Louis’ fifth shutout of the season.

  • Saint Louis’ victory marked the debut for the side of Daniel Jackson, who completed 23 of 24 passes and recorded two shots on goal.

Louisville City FC news and notes

  • Louisville fell 3-2 against FC Cincinnati last Saturday night at Slugger Field as the visitors scored three unanswered goals after Ilija Ilic had opened the scoring for the hosts.

  • The defeat brought a 13-game undefeated streak at Slugger Field to an end for Louisville, and was the first time FCC had claimed victory at the venue.

  • Louisville remains six points back in the Eastern Conference standings of the Charleston Battery entering this weekend’s action.
