Cincinnati looks to continue streak as Harrisburg visits

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati will try to add to its two-game league winning streak on Saturday night when it plays host to a Harrisburg City Islanders side that has found good form over its last three-game home stand. Kickoff at Nippert Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET, and the game will utilize the Video Assistant Referee system.

FC Cincinnati news and notes

  • Current record: 7-6-6, 27pts

  • Cincinnati earned a second consecutive victory last Saturday with a 3-2 win against Louisville City FC in front of 11,632 fans at Slugger Field.

  • The victory was FCC’s first on the road against Louisville in club history, and gave the side the upper hand as it looks to retain the River Cities Cup.

  • Djiby Fall scored his 10th goal of the season, while Danni König also found the net, to lead FCC to victory against its biggest rival.

  • FCC’s recent additions, defender Sem de Wit and forwards Kyle Greig and Kevin Schindler, are all available for selection for the first time on Saturday.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 6-8-5, 23pts

  • The City Islanders extended their undefeated streak to three games with a 1-1 draw against the Charlotte Independence on Tuesday night at FNB Field.

  • Ropapa Mensah scored the opening goal for the City Islanders, but the Independence hit back early in the second half to share the points.

  • Harrisburg announced on Friday the return of Jason Plumhoff to the club. The midfielder recorded 10 goals – leading the team – in the 2015 season for the City Islanders.

  • The City Islanders have won 949 duels this season, the most of any team this season in the USL.
