Rangers look for clean sweep in Pacific Northwest against S2

TUKWILA, Wash. – The Swope Park Rangers will look to complete a sweep of their three-game trip to the Pacific Northwest when they visit Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Thursday night at Starfire Stadium having already taken victories against Vancouver and Portland. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 7-9-2, 23pts

  • Seattle fell for a second consecutive outing on Sunday as Orange County SC took a 2-1 victory at Starfire Stadium behind a goal and assist from Wuilito Fernandes.

  • David Olsen scored for S2 to tie the game in the first half, but while the hosts had good spells of pressure, they were unable to break down OCSC’s resolute defense in the second half.

  • Sunday’s loss marked the first time since April S2 had suffered back-to-back defeats. Then the side lost consecutively to San Antonio FC and Real Monarchs SLC, who currently sit as the top two teams in the West.

  • Both Zach Mathers and Ray Saari have created 22 scoring chances this season, tied for the team-high.

  • The Rangers took their sixth consecutive victory on Sunday with a 1-0 victory against the Portland Timbers 2 at Providence Park.

  • Kharlton Belmar scored the only goal of the game against his former club, which also gave him a team-high six goals for the season.

  • Belmar scored the game-winning goal in each of Swope Park’s past two victories, also notching the winner against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Wednesday after coming on as a substitute.
