Two of the league’s hottest teams meet at FNB Field

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Two of the hottest teams meet at FNB Field on Tuesday night as the Harrisburg City Islanders host the Charlotte Independence with both coming off victories this past Saturday to boost their respective position in the Eastern Conference. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 6-8-4, 22pts

  • The City Islanders earned their second consecutive win, and fourth in the past five, with a 1-0 victory against the Richmond Kickers at FNB Field on Saturday night.

  • Ropapa Mensah scored the only goal of the game with 14 minutes to go, giving the 19-year-old Ghanaian his first goal for the club.

  • The victory moved the City Islanders into the eighth and final playoff place in the USL Eastern Conference standings.

  • City Islanders goalkeeper Brandon Miller recorded his 25th regular-season shutout in the USL in Saturday’s win, and now has a 1.00 goals-against average this season.

Charlotte Independence news and notes

  • Current record: 9-3-4, 31pts

  • The Independence earned their sixth consecutive victory on Saturday as they took a 3-2 victory against the New York Red Bulls II at MSU Soccer Park.

  • Jorge Herrera had a goal and assist, while Enzo Martinez also found the net in the win as Charlotte moved into second place in the Eastern Conference.

  • Herrera’s goal was his 50th in the USL regular season all-time, and he has also now matched his single-season high for goals with 10 this year.

  • The Independence would move within a point of Eastern Conference leader the Charleston Battery with a win on Tuesday, and enter the game holding two games in hand on their South Carolina rival.
