Portland Timbers 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 1-14-2, 5pts

  • Portland suffered a fourth defeat in their last five outings as they fell 4-3 to the LA Galaxy II last Sunday at Providence Park.

  • T2 held a two-goal lead behind tallies from Jeremy Ebobisse and Max Ornstil, but then gave up four consecutive goals to Los Dos before Victor Arboleda’s late goal proved nothing more than a consolation.

  • Ebobisse’s goal was his first in a Timbers uniform, with the 2017 MLS SuperDraft selection having previously scored twice for the U.S. U20s at the FIFA U20 World Cup earlier this year.

  • Portland has still to take victory on home turf this season, with the side currently 0-8-1 at Providence Park this season with a -13 goal differential.

Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 10-4-2, 32pts

  • The Rangers are coming off a 1-0 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Wednesday afternoon that extended their winning streak to five games.

  • Former T2 player Kharlton Belmar – who earned USL Rookie of the Year honors in 2015 in Portland – scored the only goal against WFC2. Belmar also tallied when SPR hosted T2 earlier this season.

  • Swope Park playmaker Kevin Oliveira provided the assist, and has now surpassed his total from a season ago with five helpers in 12 appearances after a torn ACL in his left knee midway through 2016 brought his first season with the club to an early conclusion.

  • The Rangers are four points behind second-place San Antonio FC in the Western Conference after Friday night’s 1-1 draw between SAFC and OKC Energy FC at Toyota Field.

Series Notes

  • Swope Park’s 1-0 win early in the season gave the Rangers a 2-1-0 edge in the all-time series between the teams.
