City Islanders look to continue burst of form vs. Kickers

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Harrisburg City Islanders will try to continue their recent surge in form when they play host to the Richmond Kickers at FNB Field on Saturday night, with the hosts coming off a good midweek victory. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 5-8-4, 19pts

  • The City Islanders recorded their third win in the past four games on Wednesday night with a 2-0 victory against the New York Red Bulls II.

  • James Thomas and Paul Wilson both scored in the first half for Harrisburg, which is now only three points behind eight-place Orlando City B in the Eastern Conference.

  • Thomas’ goal was his first as a professional, and arrived in his 67th regular-season appearance in the USL. The 25-year-old had made 51 appearances for New York (2015) and Harrisburg (2016) over the past two seasons.

  • Brandon Miller has now recorded four shutouts this season, and has recorded 22 shutouts in the USL regular season over the past three years.

Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 2-9-6, 12pts

  • The Kickers fell 2-0 to FC Cincinnati last Sunday evening at Nippert Stadium to remain at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

  • Richmond is on a 12-game winless streak, its longest in USL history, and has lost three of its last five outings.

  • The Kickers announced this week it had added former Villanova midfielder Oscar Umar for the remainder of the season.

  • Richmond will welcome the Premier League’s Swansea City A.F.C. next Wednesday for an international exhibition, with the Kickers having defeated the Swans 2-0 when they met in a similar fixture last year.
