Cincinnati, Richmond both aiming to get back on winning track

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati returns home after its weeklong trip to Florida to host the Richmond Kickers on Sunday evening at Nippert Stadium, with both teams looking to get back in the win column as they meet for the second time this season. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET.

FC Cincinnati news and notes

  • Current record: 5-6-6, 21pts

  • Cincinnati fell 2-0 to the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Thursday night in the USL Game of the Week on ESPNU to finish with one point from their two-game trip to Florida.

  • FCC currently sits in the eighth and final playoff place in the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of both Ottawa Fury FC and Orlando City B.

  • Cincinnati is fourth in the USL with 7,297 passes attempted this season, as center back Harrison Delbridge leads the team with 747 passes individually.

  • FCC continues a rapid sequence of games over the upcoming week, with a Quarterfinal in the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against Miami FC on Wednesday night followed by the second River Cities Cup clash against Louisville City FC next Saturday.

Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 2-8-6, 12pts

  • The Kickers played to a 1-1 draw with Bethlehem Steel FC last Saturday evening at Goodman Stadium, extending the club’s winless streak to 11 games.

  • Luis Fernando scored five minutes before halftime to give the Kickers the lead, but we unable to hold on in the second half as Steel FC hit back through Aaron Jones.

  • The Kickers currently sit 14th in the USL Eastern Conference, nine points behind eighth-place Cincinnati as they start the second half of the season.

  • Richmond will complete a three-game road trip next Saturday when they visit the Harrisburg City Islanders before returning home to host the Premier League’s Swansea City AFC on July 19.
