Johnson City, TN (July 5, 2017) – With a playoff berth on the line, Nashville SC U23 gave a dominating 4-0 performance over home team Tri Cities FC Otters.  The lopsided victory earned the visiting NSC U23 team 3 point in their push for the playoffs and redemption for a lackluster performance in their last visit to the Tri Cities area resulting in a draw.

Wednesday night’s match had early indications of another stalemate after a scoreless first half played evenly by both sides.  The second half was an entirely different story as the visiting NSC U23 team would open the scoring in just the 1st minute of the half and never look back.

It was Logan Paynter who came out of halftime and quickly recovered a rebounding shot in the 6 yard box and stuck the ball into the goal in the 46th minute.  Paynter would tally again in the 57th minute on a cross from Damilola Omitaomu.  NSC U23 continued to attack finding the net again in the 68th minute when Martim Galvao found Blake Wilson on beautiful through ball to space that Wilson slid easily passed the Otters keeper.

The Otters finally broke through the NSC U23 back four forcing keeper Chris Zappia to make a great save to protect his clean sheet in the 75th minute but the rest of the match would belong to the visitors.  Nashville’s own Shak Adams capped the scoring on the evening scoring a special goal in the 83rd minute when the ball managing to trickle through the legs of the Otter’s keeper on a shot from the corner flag.

“Our back four were tremendous for us throughout the match” commented Coach Kyle Roelke. “In the second half, we were much cleaner in the attacking third with Blake Wilson creating some great opportunities and Logan scoring a pair of great goals.  I'm really proud of the guys and how they performed tonight."
