First meeting between Eastern contenders set for Slugger Field

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville City FC and Ottawa Fury FC meet for the first time on Saturday night at Slugger Field with both teams currently sitting in the top five of the USL Eastern Conference standings. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.

Louisville City FC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-2-4, 25pts

  • Louisville fell for only the second time this season last Saturday as the Harrisburg City Islanders took a 1-0 victory at FNB Field.

  • City goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh saved a penalty early in the first half, but was unable to deny Pedro Ribeiro in the second half as Louisville was edged out.

  • The defeat brought an end to a five-game undefeated streak for the club that had seen Louisville score 12 goals.

  • Louisville is undefeated at home this season, currently sitting at 3-0-2 in 2017, and has an undefeated home stretch that goes back to July 30, 2016 when the side fell to Orlando City B.

Ottawa Fury FC news and notes

  • Fury FC grabbed a late 2-2 draw with the New York Red Bulls II last Saturday afternoon to remain in the middle of the playoff positions in the Eastern Conference.

  • Jamar Dixon scored his first goal for the club in the fourth minute of stoppage time to earns his side a point after New York had rallied to take the lead around the hour-mark.

  • Ottawa forward Carl Haworth has recorded two assists in the last two games, which have marked his return to action since a preseason injury saw him miss the club’s first 12 games in 2017.

  • Midfielder Ryan Williams also found the net against New York early in the game, and now has three goals and two assists on the season.
