City Islanders look to build on big victory in visit to TFC II

VAUGHAN, Ont. – The Harrisburg City Islanders will look to build on a big win in their last outing when they visit Toronto FC II on Saturday evening at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET.

Toronto FC II news and notes

  • Current record: 2-8-5, 11pts

  • Toronto is coming off its heaviest defeat of the season last Saturday night as it fell 6-1 to Eastern Conference leader the Charleston Battery.

  • The defeat returned TFC II to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, as it now sits with a -16 goal differential this season to sit below the Richmond Kickers.

  • Sergio Camargo became the sixth different player to score for TFC II this season against the Battery, but no-one has more than one tally among the squad.

  • Former Toronto FC II standout Raheem Edwards was named in the Canada squad for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup on Monday.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 3-7-4, 13pts

  • Harrisburg recorded its first victory since April with a 1-0 win against Louisville City FC last Saturday night at FNB Field.

  • Pedro Ribeiro scored the only goal of the game in the second half, having previously had a penalty kick saved by Louisville goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh in the first half.

  • The goal was Ribeiro’s first in his second stint with the City Islanders. The Brazilian scored four goals for Harrisburg on loan from the Philadelphia Union in the 2014 USL season.

  • The victory against Louisville broke a four-game losing streak for Harrisburg, and moved the side within six points of the eighth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.

  • The City Islanders went 2-1-0 last season against TFC II to claim the regular-season series. This is their first meeting in the 2017 season.
