1868 FC looks to bounce back against struggling Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Reno 1868 FC will look to rebound from its loss on Monday night when it visits the Portland Timbers 2 at Providence Park on Saturday night, with T2 looking for a major turnaround in its season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.

Portland Timbers 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 1-12-1, 4pts

  • Portland’s tough season continued last Friday night with a 3-1 defeat against OKC Energy FC at Providence Park.

  • T2 took the lead from the penalty spot through Villyan Bijev five minutes before halftime, but Energy FC responded two minutes later to level and then scored twice from the penalty spot in the second half to earn victory.

  • Portland is now six points adrift at the bottom of the Western Conference, and is currently on an eight-game losing streak.

  • T2 sits fourth in the USL with 6,352 attempted passes this season, but has scored only eight goals on 162 total shots this season.

Reno 1868 FC news and notes

  • Current record: 5-4-3, 18pts

  • Reno saw its seven-game undefeated streak end on Monday night as it fell 2-1 to Real Monarchs SLC at Rio Tinto Stadium.

  • Antoine Hoppenot found the net for 1868 FC in the first half, but the side was unable to find an equalizer late in a frantic finish that included goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell hitting the crossbar from a corner.

  • Attacking midfielder Junior Burgos was named to El Salvador’s 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad on Thursday, making him the second 1868 FC player so far competing in a major tournament this summer.

  • San Jose Earthquakes loanee Kip Colvey, who has made seven appearances for Reno this season, is currently competing for New Zealand at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
