CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Independence announced on Friday evening the club’s inaugural game at the new Sportsplex at Matthews was officially a sellout. The Independence will host the Harrisburg City Islanders for the contest, which sees the club move into its new permanent home (7 p.m. ET | Preview).

As part of the night, the Independence will honor the Carolina Lightnin' during halftime on June 17th. T-shirts with the Carolina Lightnin' and Charlotte Independence logos will be sold during the game to benefit Street Soccer 945 – an Urban Ministry Center organization dedicated to bringing the community together to end homelessness, one life at a time.

The 1981 American Soccer League Champions, Carolina Lightnin' team are the only Charlotte-based professional sports team to win a championship.
