Louisville City FC news and notes

  • Current record: 6-1-4, 22pts

  • Louisville swept to victory in both of its Week 12 games, including a 3-0 victory against the New York Red Bulls II on Sunday afternoon at MSU Soccer Park.

  • The victory marked the first time in six games all-time that City had defeated the Red Bulls II, as Kyle Smith, Brian Ownby and Richard Ballard all found the net.

  • Ballard has scored two goals in the past two games, having notched the only goal in a 1-0 victory against the Charlotte Independence on May 6 in City’s last home outing.

  • Ballard and goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh – who recorded both shutouts last week – were both named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday for their standout performances.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds news and notes

  • Current record: 4-5-4, 16pts

  • The Riverhounds saw their winless streak reach four games last Saturday night as Romeo Parkes’ late equalizer earned a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC II.

  • Parkes’ goal was his first for the Riverhounds since rejoining the club earlier this season. The Jamaican had scored five goals in his previous stint in Pittsburgh.

  • The draw saw the Riverhounds slide out of the top eight in the Eastern Conference on total wins, but the side is one of five sitting on 16 points in the middle of the conference’s standings.

  • Riverhound forward Corey Hertzog’s next league goal will be his 20th for the club.

Series Notes

  • Louisville earned a 1-0 victory in the first meeting between the teams this season, and is now 3-1-2 all-time against the Hounds.
