Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 2-7-4, 10pts

  • The Kickers slide continued last Saturday night as it fell 1-0 to the Charleston Battery at MUSC Health Stadium in the 60th meeting between the longtime rivals.

  • Richmond held an 11-3 shots advantage in the second half against Charleston, but was unable to find a breakthrough.

  • The Kickers’ winless streak has now reached eight games, with Toronto FC II’s midweek victory moving Richmond into last place in the Eastern Conference.

  • Richmond sits six points out of the Eastern Conference playoff positions. The side has reached the USL Cup Playoffs in each of the prior six seasons.

Tampa Bay Rowdies news and notes

  • Current record: 6-3-5, 24pts

  • The Rowdies recorded their third consecutive draw last Saturday night against the Rochester Rhinos as their game at Al Lang Stadium ended 1-1.

  • Joe Cole scored his fourth goal of the season to level the score after Rochester had taken an early lead, but the Rowdies were unable to find a second tally to earn all three points.

  • Tampa Bay is now four points behind Eastern Conference leader the Charleston Battery, and only one point ahead of Louisville City FC having played three games more than City.

  • The Rowdies will be without Michael Nanchoff for Saturday’s game due to suspension after he was given his fifth yellow card of the season against the Rhinos, but will have leading scorer Georgi Hristov available after serving a one-game suspension against Rochester.

Series Notes

  • The Rowdies earned a 1-0 win at Al Lang Stadium behind a goal from Deshorn Brown in the first meeting between the clubs earlier this season.
