Energy FC looks to complete season sweep after Open Cup exit

PORTLAND, Ore. – OKC Energy FC will look to complete a season sweet of their regular-season series with the Portland Timbers 2 on Friday night when the two teams meet at Providence Park. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Portland Timbers 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 1-11-1, 4pts

  • Portland remained at the bottom of the Western Conference after a 2-0 defeat against Real Monarchs SLC last Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.

  • The defeat extended T2’s winless streak to seven games, with a 0-0 draw against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC the only point earned in that span.

  • T2 is winless at home this season, with its only win of the season having come against Sacramento Republic FC on April 22 at Papa Murphy’s Park.

  • A number of T2 players saw action for the Timbers in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night, including forward Augustine Williams, who scored Portland’s goal in a 2-1 loss to Seattle Sounders FC.

  • Energy FC played to a 0-0 draw with San Antonio FC last Saturday night at Taft Stadium in its most recent league outing.

  • Friday night’s game opens a three-game trip through Cascadia for OKC, with games against Seattle Sounders FC 2 (June 19) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (June 24) also part of the trip.

  • OKC fell 3-2 in the Fourth Round of Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park as the side let a two-goal halftime lead slip against its MLS opponent.

  • Energy FC is expected to have goalkeeper Cody Laurendi back with the squad on Friday. Laurendi recorded a shutout in his debut for Puerto Rico in a 0-0 draw against Indonesia on Tuesday.
