TAMPA, Fla. – Tulsa Roughnecks FC goalkeeper Fabian Cerda has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 12 of the 2017 season, with his standout save against the Swope Park Rangers last Sunday evening earning the voters’ applause in the weekly online poll.
Cerda has had a solid season already since arriving with the Roughnecks in preseason, and against the Rangers showed why he’s been a reliable addition to the club’s lineup. After Swope Park’s Mark Anthony Gonzalez beat the Tulsa defense to set up a one-on-one chance breaking into the penalty area, Cerda came off his line quickly and stood his ground well, turning the effort wide of the right post.
Cerda’s save received 49 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. The Charlotte Independence’s Cody Mizell finished second for his standout stop against FC Cincinnati last Saturday night with 38 percent, while the Portland Timbers 2’s Kendall McIntosh’s denial of Real Monarchs SLC’s Charlie Adams finished third with 13 percent.
