The United States moved to the top of Group F on Thursday night as it took a 1-0 victory against Senegal through Josh Sargent’s third goal of the tournament, making it the lone undefeated side in the group.
2016 USL Cup winner Tyler Adams played a key role in the victory, helping set up Sargent’s 34th-minute goal with a clever pass to Luca de la Torre, and pressuring Senegal’s midfield into mistakes throughout.
Justen Glad (Real Monarchs SLC) and Jeremy Ebobisse (Charleston Battery/Portland Timbers 2) both made their first appearances of the tournament, the seventh and eighth players with USL experience to appear for the U.S.
