Two streaks are on the line to kick off a home-and-home series

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 2016 USL Western Conference champion Swope Park Rangers and 2017 USL Western Conference leader San Antonio FC both have streaks on the line when they meet for the first game of a home-and-home series on Friday night at Children’s Mercy Victory Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

Swope Park Rangers news and notes

  • Current record: 4-3-0, 12pts

  • The Rangers are looking to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat against Rio Grande Valley FC in their last outing on May 13 at H-E-B Park.

  • The loss to the Toros marked the first time Swope Park had been held scoreless in the 2017 USL regular season.

  • Swope Park is currently on a nine-game winning streak at Children’s Mercy Victory Field dating back to the 2016 USL regular season. The side last lost on home turf to Rio Grande Valley FC on Sept. 3, 2016.

  • The Rangers will be without center back Erik Palmer-Brown, who is captaining the U.S. U20 National Team at the FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea.

San Antonio FC news and notes

  • Current record: 8-0-2, 26pts

  • San Antonio’s undefeated start to the season reached 10 games as it defeated Phoenix Rising FC 1-0 at Toyota Field last Saturday in front of 7,414 fans.

  • A.J. Ajeakwa scored the only goal of the game, and on Thursday it claimed the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week honor.

  • SAFC’s Greg Cochrane has played every minute of the season for the side, and has played all-but 69 regular-season minutes in the club’s history (3,531 minutes of 3,600).

  • San Antonio has recorded a league-high seven shutouts this season, with Diego Restrepo posting four and Matt Cardone three individually.
