TAMPA, Fla. – San Antonio FC forward A.J. Ajeakwa earned the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week honor for Week 9, as his game-winning goal against Phoenix Rising FC last Saturday night at Toyota Field finished top of the online poll.
Ajeakwa goal came from an outstanding piece of build-up play by USL March/April Player of the Month Billy Forbes and Kris Trypak. Forbes drove forward through the midfield, and sent a perfect through-ball for Tyrpak into the right channel. Tyrpak’s cutback that found Ajeakwa’s move into space for a first-time finish hit the roof of the net, sending the crowd of 7,414 into celebration.
Ajeakwa earned 41 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. Sito Seoane’s looping finish for Ottawa Fury FC against the New York Red Bulls II earned 24 percent to finish second, while Danni König’s first goal for FC Cincinnati – a diving header against Bethlehem Steel FC – finished third with 23 percent.
