HARRISBURG, Pa. – When Jonny Mendoza scored a late equalizer for the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday night against the Charleston Battery, he not only earned the club a 2-2 draw at FNB Field, but also benefited the Four Diamonds program at Penn State Children’s Hospital.

On Saturday, the City Islanders and Four Diamonds program launched the initiative, which includes the sale of discounted season tickets that will see half of all proceeds this month donated to Four Diamonds, and a donation to Four Diamonds for every goal the City Islanders score at home this season.

The City Islanders will also welcome a Family of the Match for Four Diamonds families in cooperation with the program, which covers 100 percent of all medical expenses related to cancer care not covered by insurance for eligible Four Diamonds children.

“We are absolutely delighted to be able to partner with Four Diamonds,” said City Islanders President Tiago Lopes. “The work that they have done in this region for more than 40 years has been remarkable, and we hope City Islanders fans will join us in helping raise funds to continue its success.”

Since its creation in 1972, Four Diamonds has helped nearly 4,000 children and families and supported a diverse platform of childhood cancer research at Penn State Children's Hospital. The program continued to seek improved treatments and cures to benefit children around the world.

The City Islanders hope their efforts on and off the field can give even greater support to the program. Discounted tickets to benefit Four Diamonds can be purchased on the City Islanders website or by visiting 4DIAMONDS. The promotion runs through June 15.
