Left Back Helped Record Club’s Seventh Shutout

San Antonio FC defender Greg Cochrane has been named to the USL Team of the Week, the league announced today. Cochrane played 90 minutes against Phoenix Rising FC last Saturday, and helped SAFC record its seventh shutout in 10 total USL matches.

Cochrane recorded two clearances, two interceptions and one tackle against Phoenix Rising FC, shutting down the left-hand side of the SAFC defense over the course of the match. The former LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire defender ranks third on the team in tackles (27) while also adding 19 clearances, 13 interceptions and four blocks over the course of 10 matches (900 minutes).

The 26-year-old has helped the Alamo City club build the best defensive record in the league through the first 10 matches of the season, conceding just four goals as a unit. Cochrane is one of two SAFC players to play every USL minute so far in 2017, and the defender has now played in 98.1 percent (3,531 of 3,600) of all SAFC USL minutes since the club’s inception.

With the honor, Cochrane earns his second USL Team of the Week honor in his career and becomes the fifth SAFC player to earn those honors in 2017. San Antonio has had at least one representative in the USL Team of the Week following seven of the club’s ten matches this season.
