Toronto, Richmond both looking to get back on winning track

VAUGHAN, Ont. – Toronto FC II and the Richmond Kickers will both be aiming to get back in the win column and closer to the playoff positions in the USL Eastern Conference on Wednesday afternoon when they meet at the Ontario Soccer Centre for a special matinee kickoff. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET.

Toronto FC II news and notes

  • Current record: 1-5-3, 6pts

  • Toronto took an early lead in its last outing, but three second-half goals by the Tampa Bay Rowdies saw the visitors take a 3-1 victory at the Ontario Soccer Centre on Friday evening.

  • Luca Uccello scored his first goal of the season for Toronto in the loss to Tampa Bay. The Canada U20 international scored three goals a season ago.

  • Toronto remains last in the USL’s Eastern Conference, with its only win of the season having come in its first game of 2017 against Phoenix Rising FC.

  • Wednesday’s game ends a three-game home stand for TFC II, which will visit FC Cincinnati on Saturday night in its next outing.

Richmond Kickers news and notes

  • Current record: 2-3-4, 10pts

  • Richmond earned a 1-1 draw with the Rochester Rhinos on Sunday afternoon at Capelli Sport Stadium as Raul Gonzalez found the net in the final minute of the first half.

  • Richmond has recorded three successive draws, and will be looking for its first win in over a month on Wednesday. The Kickers last took victory on April 22 against Pittsburgh.

  • New England Revolution loanee Matt Turner has been a consistent presence in goal for the Kickers, posting a .769 save percentage and a 0.86 goals-against average.

  • The Kickers will complete their three-game road trip on Saturday afternoon when they visit Ottawa Fury FC at TD Place.
