PITTSBURGH (May 23, 2017) – The Pittsburgh Riverhounds (4-4-2) travel in-state to take on the Harrisburg City Islanders (2-3-3) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24 at FNB Field.
Looking to bounce back from a close defeat to Louisville City FC that saw their win streak come to a close at three, the Hounds head into the midweek tilt with a chance to recapture the Keystone Derby Cup, presented K&L Gates and the Pennsylvania Lottery, with their second straight win over Harrisburg. The previous meeting between the two clubs saw Pittsburgh win 1-0 at Highmark Stadium in April thanks to a second-half header by Corey Hertzog.
If the Hounds are able to pull out a victory on the road, it would be the first time in the three year existence of the Keystone Cup the winner was determined before the final head-to-head meeting of the season series – Pittsburgh won in September 2015, Harrisburg in August 2016.
The City Islanders have had mixed result as of late, going winless in their past five matches (0-2-3). At home though, the club is undefeated going 1-0-2 in three matches, including a 2-2 draw most recently against top-of-the-table Charleston Battery this past weekend. The Hounds have won only six of the 18 head-to-head meetings (6-7-5) since 2011 and have not scored more than goal against Harrisburg since September 2015.
The two teams will not meet again until the series finale on August 12 in Harrisburg.
