Thoughts from players and coaches after the match.

Sacramento Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle

(On recent form)
“We haven’t been our best. When Barrera gets in around the edge of the box, I expect him to put in the top corner or at least warn the goalkeeper. We’re better than that. There’s so much more to come from the team. There really is. And I’m pleased that I’m saying that after a win because that’s what it’s about. There’s more to come. We don’t want to criticize each other. I don’t think that’s quite fair. It’s a long season, theres going to be up and downs, but we need to be better.”

(On bouncing back)
“To go behind, to pull it back, then level again and then win it like we did was great and I’m sure it was exciting for our fans but not so exciting for me because I know we can do better.”

(On regaining confidence)
“You have to know in sport that confidence is a huge thing. Confidence is a massive thing. And we probably lacked a little bit of confidence at times, understandably. So hopefully now we can dust ourselves down. Rest for a bit and then get back to it Monday and get ready for another game Sunday.”

Sacramento Republic FC Defender Chris Christian:

(On his goal)
“My brother is a goalie and he always tells me to send the ball where the goalie just was, not where he is, (Set pieces) have been a struggle but we have to keep working on them and Danny (Barrera) and I are starting to communicate better.”
