Monarchs look for revenge for only loss this season against Switchbacks

SANDY, Utah – Real Monarchs SLC will take aim at avenging its only loss this season when it plays host to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday night, with both teams currently sitting in the top four of the USL’s Western Conference. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. MT.

Real Monarchs SLC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-1-0, 21pts
     
  • The Monarchs earned their fourth consecutive victory with a 2-0 win against Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.
     
  • Daniel Haber and Sebastian Velasquez both found the net, with Velasquez’s goal his fourth of the season which puts him tied for the team-high.
     
  • Real became the second team in USL history, following San Antonio FC this season, to earn victory in seven of its first eight games of a season with its win against Sacramento.
     
  • The Monarchs currently lead the USL with 20 goals in eight games this season, and have yet to be held scoreless in 2017.


Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC news and notes           

  • Current record: 3-3-4, 13pts
     
  • The Switchbacks fell 3-1 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Sunday afternoon to take one point from their two-game trip to Cascadia in Week 8.
     
  • Colorado Springs rebounded nicely back on home turf in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday as it took a 2-0 win against the PDL’s FC Tucson.
     
  • The Switchbacks will now host OKC Energy FC on May 31 in the Third Round at Weidner Field, with the winner of the contest going on to visit the Colorado Rapids.
     
  • Switchbacks fullback Josh Suggs leads the USL with 60 crosses this season, six ahead of the Monarchs’ Charlie Adams.

  • The Switchbacks’ victory in the first meeting between the sides this season gave the club a 4-2-1 lead in the all-time series.
