Charleston looks to maintain hold on top spot in visit to Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Eastern Conference leading Charleston Battery will open a three-game trip to the Northeast when they visit the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday night at FNB Field, with the hosts returning home looking to turn around their fortunes. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Harrisburg City Islanders news and notes

  • Current record: 2-3-2, 8pts

  • The City Islanders played to a 0-0 draw with the Richmond Kickers last Saturday night as their winless streak reached three games.

  • Harrisburg will host its third home game of the season on Saturday, having gone 1-0-1 in its two previous outings at FNB Field.

  • The City Islanders advanced in a penalty shootout against the PDL’s Ocean City Nor’easters in the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday night.

  • Harrisburg will travel to face the PDL’s Reading United AC in the Third Round on May 31, with the winner set to visit the Philadelphia Union.

Charleston Battery news and notes

  • Current record: 6-1-1, 19pts

  • Charleston maintained its hold on top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 1-0 victory against Saint Louis FC last Saturday at MUSC Health Stadium.

  • Forrest Lasso scored his fourth league goal of the season to earn the Battery victory, and was named to the USL Team of the Week for his performance.

  • Lasso also found the net on Wednesday afternoon as the Battery defeated the Atlanta Silverbacks 2-1 in the Second Round of the Open Cup.

  • Charleston will also visit Bethlehem Steel FC (May 25) and the New York Red Bulls II (May 28) before returning home.
