Bethlehem looks for season sweep in visit to Nippert Stadium

CINCINNATI – Bethlehem Steel FC will try to complete a season sweep of FC Cincinnati when the two teams square off at Nippert Stadium on Saturday night with the sides sitting one position apart in the middle of the Eastern Conference. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

FC Cincinnati news and notes

  • Current record: 2-4-3, 9pts

  • FC Cincinnati fell 2-0 to Orlando City B last Saturday night in front of 19,310 fans at Nippert Stadium as the club’s winless streak in league action reached five games.

  • FCC earned a 1-0 overtime victory against AFC Cleveland in the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Nippert Stadium on Wednesday night.

  • Djiby Fall scored the winner for FCC in the 116th minute, but will again be unavailable for Saturday’s games as he continues his league suspension.

  • Cincinnati will host River Cities rival Louisville City FC in the Third Round of the Open Cup on May 31 at Nippert Stadium, with the winner set to host Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew SC in the Fourth Round.

  • Bethlehem earned a 1-0 victory against Toronto FC II last Saturday night at BMO Field to earn its second win in its past three outings.

  • Jamaican international Cory Burke scored his first goal of the season from the penalty spot in the eighth minute to earn the victory on the road.

  • Goalkeeper Jake McGuire recorded a seven-save shutout against Toronto, and was named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday.

  • Steel FC defender Auston Trusty was named this week to the United States U20 World Cup squad as an injury replacement, where he joins fellow Bethlehem alum Derrick Jones.
