Open Cup’s Fourth Round Scenarios Set

Five USL sides could potentially host at this stage in mid-June

TAMPA, Fla. – The U.S. Soccer Federation conducted the Fourth Round Draw for the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Thursday at U.S. Soccer House in Chicago. The draw determined the host sites of the tournament’s Fourth Round, which brings in Major League Soccer competition.

There is the potential for five USL teams to host their respective Fourth Round matches if they advance through the Third Round, which takes place on May 31. Fourth Round games take place on June 13 and 14.

The FC Cincinnati/Louisville City FC winner will host MLS’s Columbus Crew SC. The Reno 1868 FC/Sacramento Republic FC winner will host Real Salt Lake. San Antonio FC would host FC Dallas if it advances past fellow USL side Tulsa Roughnecks FC. If the Charlotte Independence defeat North Carolina FC, they will host the Houston Dynamo. Rounding out the list of potentials, the winner between the Premier Development League’s Michigan Bucks and USL’s Saint Louis FC will host four-time Open Cup winners the Chicago Fire.
