Double-save against Rowdies earns second honor this season for Louisville goalkeeper

TAMPA, Fla. – Louisville City FC goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 8 of the 2017 season, with his double-save against the Tampa Bay Rowdies last Saturday night at Al Lang Stadium earning him the weekly honor for the second time this season.

Dobrowolski had a solid performance despite Louisville’s defeat against Tampa Bay, and came to the fore early in the second half. Off a short corner kick for the Rowdies, Darwin Jones fired a fierce effort that Dobrowolski was able to parry, and he then recovered in time to turn aside the rebound effort from former England international Joe Cole to keep the game scoreless at that point.

Dobrowolski’s save received 46 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. The result comes three weeks after his highlight stop of FC Cincinnati's Matt Bahner during a Week 5 River Cities Cup clash also garnered recognition from fans. Seattle Sounders FC 2’s Tyler Miller took second with 38 percent for his outstanding save to deny San Antonio FC’s A.J. Ajeakwa at Toyota Field last Saturday night, while OKC Energy FC goalkeeper Cody Laurendi’s diving save on Chris Cortez against Phoenix Rising FC finished third with 16 percent.
