Monarchs look to build on midweek victory as Sacramento visits

SANDY, Utah – Real Monarchs SLC will look to build on a strong road victory in midweek when it plays host to a Sacramento Republic FC side looking to break a five-game winless streak at Rio Tinto Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MT.

  • The Monarchs took their third consecutive victory on Wednesday night in a 3-0 win against the LA Galaxy II at StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium.

  • Sebastian Velasquez had a goal and assist for the Monarchs in the victory, while Charlie Adams and Karsten Hanlin also found the net.

  • The Monarchs now sit second in the USL with 18 goals this season, trailing San Antonio FC by only one.

  • Adams’ goal was his first of the season. The midfielder is tied for third in the USL with 18 chances created this season.

Sacramento Republic FC news and notes            

  • Current record: 3-4-1, 10pts

  • Republic FC was edged out in a 1-0 defeat against San Antonio FC last Saturday night at Toyota Field, extending the club’s winless streak to five games.

  • Sacramento has never been held winless in five consecutive USL regular season games previously, and has not found the net since a 2-1 victory against Tulsa on April 8.

  • Midfielder Danny Barrera leads the USL with 25 chances created this season having played every minute of the season, but has recorded only one assist.

  • Sacramento will return home next Saturday night to play host to Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Papa Murphy’s Park.
