San Antonio welcomes S2 to Toyota Field for the second meeting this season

SAN ANTONIO – USL Western Conference leader San Antonio FC will meet Seattle Sounders FC 2 for the second time this season on Saturday night at Toyota Field with both teams aiming to build on victories in their last outings. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

San Antonio FC news and notes

  • Current record: 7-0-1, 22pts

  • San Antonio FC remained the lone undefeated club in the USL’s Western Conference with a 1-0 win against Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday at Toyota Field.

  • Rafael Castillo scored the game’s only goal from the penalty spot, while goalkeeper Diego Restrepo had a four-save shutout to earn USL Team of the Week honors.

  • Restrepo has posted back-to-back shutouts over the past two games, and has conceded only twice in 304 minutes since coming on as a substitute against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on April 22.

  • SAFC winger Billy Forbes was named the USL Player of the Month for March/April on Thursday after recording six goals and three assists in the opening six weeks of the season.

Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 4-4-0, 12pts

  • Seattle earned its first two-game winning streak of the season with a 2-0 victory against the Portland Timbers 2 last Friday night in its most recent outing.

  • Irvin Parra scored both goals in the victory as S2 moved into the Western Conference’s top five going into this weekend’s action.

  • The Sounders organization announced last Saturday it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tacoma Rainiers that would see S2 move to a new, 5,000-seat soccer-specific stadium in Tacoma.

  • S2 is tied for eighth in the USL with 95 shots in eight games this season.
