TAMPA, Fla. – U.S. Soccer released its Third Round scenarios for the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Friday. The USL begins action in the Second Round on Tuesday and Wednesday as a league-high 18 clubs open the tournament.

The Third Round kicks off May 31 and will feature the 26 winners from Second Round play. Home teams are determined by a coin flip among the clubs who have applied to host, and whose venues meet the Open Cup’s minimum stadium requirements.

There are three potential USL head-to-head Third Round matchups. FC Cincinnati would face Louisville City FC at Nippert Stadium, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC would host OKC Energy FC at Weidner Field and Sacramento Republic FC would face USL expansion side Reno 1868 FC at Papa Murphy’s Park if all four teams advance through the Second Round.
