Fury FC, Riverhounds both looks to build off victories last time out

OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds square off at TD Place on Saturday afternoon with Ottawa coming off a big midweek victory in the Canadian Championship, and the Riverhounds on their first two-game winning streak in more than a year. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.

Ottawa Fury FC news and notes

  • Current record: 1-2-3, 6pts

  • Fury FC played to a 0-0 draw against the Tampa Bay Rowdies in its last USL contest at TD Place last Saturday, continuing its run of strong defensive play of late.

  • Ottawa then advanced to the Semifinals of the 2017 Canadian Championship on Wednesday night, defeating FC Edmonton 3-2 at Clarke Stadium to go through 4-2 on aggregate in the series.

  • Steevan Dos Santos scored twice for Fury FC against Edmonton, while Sito Seoane also found the net after 39 seconds. Seoane’s goal was the fastest in Fury FC history, and the second-fastest in Canadian Championship history.

  • Ottawa will face Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC in the Semifinals of the tournament, with the first leg set for May 23 at TD Place, and the second leg at BMO Field on May 31.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds news and notes

  • Current record: 3-3-2, 11pts

  • The Riverhounds recorded their second consecutive victory last Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory against Toronto FC II at Highmark Stadium.

  • Victor Souto scored the only goal of the game, with his first professional goal earning the No. 2 berth on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 that night.

  • Souto also claimed the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week on Thursday for the tally, adding to his selection to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday.

  • The Riverhounds’ two-game winning streak is their first since 2015. A win on Saturday would earn their first three-game winning streak since July 21-Aug. 3, 2013 when the side won four games in a row.
