FC Cincinnati and OKC Energy FC announced on Wednesday a major trade, with 2015 USL Most Valuable Player finalist Danni König joining FCC and Andy Craven heading to Energy FC.

König recorded 21 goals and four assists in his first season for Energy FC in 2015, finishing second in the race for the USL Golden Boot and earning All-League First Team honors. Since then the Danish forward’s form has taken a downturn, as he finished with five goals and four assists in the 2016 regular season and playoffs, and had yet to find the net this year in four appearances.

“In this business, sometimes you have to give something up, to gain something somewhere else. We thank Andy for his contributions this season and truly wish him well with Oklahoma City,” said FC Cincinnati Head Coach Alan Koch. “We are also very excited to add a proven USL goal-scorer to our squad. It is not very often you get presented with an opportunity to bring in a player who recently scored over 20 goals in the league. We look forward to giving Danni a fresh start in his career and also working with him to be successful within our team. He can be used in isolation up front or in tandem with one of our other attacking options.”

Craven made 11 appearances in the regular season and playoffs for Energy FC last season after joining the club from Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders FC midway through the year. A finalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy in his senior season at the University of North Carolina in 2014, Craven originally signed with the Seattle Sounders FC 2, and recorded eight goals and seven assists for the side between the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

“First, thanks to Danni for his hard work during his time in Oklahoma City,” said Energy FC Head Coach Jimmy Nielsen.  “He’s been a part of Energy FC’s efforts both on and off the pitch. I wish him the best of luck in Cincinnati.

“I’m excited to have Andy back on our roster. From the first time I saw him play, he’s a player that caught my eye. I know he’s hungry to be back in OKC and play to the level that we know he can play.”

Craven was handed a four-game suspension for his red card for FC Cincinnati on April 29, and will serve three more games in the suspension in Energy FC’s upcoming games against Phoenix Rising FC (May 13), Orange County SC (May 20) and the Portland Timbers 2 (May 24).
