IRVINE, Calif. – After four games on the road to open the 2017 campaign, Orange County SC finally had its home base to play in front of Saturday in the I-405 Derby against the LA Galaxy II.

OCSC didn’t disappoint as the club put together its most dominant performance of the season with a 4-0 victory against Los Dos to open up Orange County Great Park.

“What a spectacular night,” OCSC Head Coach Logan Pause said. “It feels great to be able to reward our fans and community with a convincing win to open up our stadium.”

Jerry van Ewijk was the star of the evening with the opening two goals and an assist on Wuilito Fernandes’ second-half tally. OCSC had to wait an extra week since its 1-1 draw in the first match at the Galaxy II on April 22, and the attack was in full force Saturday.

“I would say for the game we all were so eager to play again, and we had a week before we had another game,” Van Ewijk said. “It was good to get the rhythm going.”

OCSC (3-1-1, 10 points) savored the home flavor as this weekend represented only a brief local stop on the docket. Orange County returns on the road for its next two matches against Tulsa Roughnecks FC (May 13) and OKC Energy FC (May 20) before a four-game home stand starting in June.

“Everybody worked so hard and everything looked so great,” Van Ewijk said of the home festivities. “For the players it was really exciting, and the fans were amazing. Everybody in the club did a really good job.”
