Battery welcome Steel FC after positive results for both last weekend

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Charleston Battery square off against Bethlehem Steel FC on Saturday night at MUSC Health Stadium with the hosts looking to continue a three-game undefeated streak and Steel FC aiming to build on a dramatic victory. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Charleston Battery news and notes

  • Current record: 4-1-1, 13pts

  • The Battery recorded their first draw of the season last Saturday night as Romario Williams’ late equalizer earned a 2-2 result against Ottawa Fury FC at MUSC Health Stadium.

  • Williams had both goals for the Battery in the contest, and the Atlanta United FC loanee is now tied for the USL lead with six goals this season.

  • Charleston remained on top of the USL Eastern Conference with its draw against Ottawa, and has scored a conference-high 15 goals so far this season.

  • Justin Portillo is tied for the league-lead in assists with four, while Maikel Chang leads the team with 13 chances created, good for seventh in the USL.

Bethlehem Steel FC news and notes

  • Current record: 2-3-0, 6pts

  • Bethlehem claimed a dramatic 1-0 victory against FC Cincinnati last Saturday as Hugh Roberts’ goal with three minutes to go proved the game-winner at Goodman Stadium.

  • Both of Steel FC’s victories this season have come against Cincinnati, with the team having also earned victory when the sides met on April 9.

  • Roberts’ goal was his first for his new club, and saw the 2016 USL All-League selection earn a place on the USL Team of the Week for the first time this year.

  • Saturday’s game kicks off a three-game road trip for Bethlehem, which will also visit Toronto FC II and FC Cincinnati before returning to Goodman Stadium.
