Highlight stop of 10-save shutout against Louisville takes top honors

TAMPA, Fla. – Toronto FC II goalkeeper Angelo Cavaluzzo has earned the USL Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 6 of the 2017 season, as the finest denial of his 10-save shutout on Saturday night against Louisville City FC in front of 8,282 fans at Slugger Field topped the ballot.

Cavalluzzo earned USL Team of the Week honors on Tuesday for his all-around display, which earned Toronto its third consecutive shutout. The highlight was a point-blank stop of Luke Spencer, who redirected a cross at the top of the six-yard only for the effort to be claimed by Cavalluzzo.

Cavalluzzo’s save received 48 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. Saint Louis FC’s Adam Grinwis took second with 32 percent for his diving stop to turn aside Orlando City B’s Pierre Da Silva, while OKC Energy FC’s Cody Laurendi finished third with 20 percent for his stop of Rio Grande Valley FC’s Eric Bird from close range.
