Belize international adds to attacking options for Ottawa

OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC announced on Tuesday the club had acquired Belizean international Michael Salazar on loan from the Montreal Impact.

"We're looking forward to having Michael join the club and provide us with another option in our attack," said Fury FC GM and Head Coach Paul Dalglish.

Drafted in the second round (24th overall) of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft by the Montreal Impact, Salazar has featured in 19 MLS games for the Impact over two seasons. The New York born midfielder/forward scored a pair of goals in his first MLS start against the New England Revolution on July 2, 2016 and featured in three USL contests last season with FC Montreal.

The 24-year-old has represented his native Belize on 12 occasions including three in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup and five in the recent 2017 Copa Centroamericana.

Salazar will not be available for action in the Canadian Championship in order to remain eligible to play for the Impact, but will be available for selection in Saturday's match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at TD Place. Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, the Impact retain the right to recall the player at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
