San Antonio completes road trip with visit to Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – USL Western Conference leader San Antonio FC will try to complete a perfect trip through the Pacific Northwest on Friday night when it visits a Portland Timbers 2 side that is coming off its first win of the season. Kickoff at Providence Park is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

Portland Timbers 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 1-5-0, 3pts

  • Portland claimed its first victory of the season last Saturday night as it defeated Sacramento Republic FC 2-0 at Papa Murphy’s Park.

  • Villyan Bijev and Victor Arboleda found the net for T2 in the win, and Arboleda was named to the USL Team of the Week on Tuesday for his stellar performance.

  • T2 is tied for fifth in the USL in passing accuracy, completing 78 percent of its passes overall at a rate of 444 passes per game.

  • Defender Rennico Clarke is one yellow card from receiving a one-game suspension for caution accumulation going into Friday night’s game.

  • San Antonio took its second victory in its week-long trip to Cascadia on Tuesday night with a 3-2 win against Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Starfire Stadium.

  • Billy Forbes scored his fifth goal of the season, and Devin Vega notched his first professional goal, which proved the winner as Seattle pushed late for an equalizer.

  • Forbes is currently tied for second in the USL in goals, and tied for third in the league with three assists, the lone player in the league to sit in the top three in both categories.

  • San Antonio has scored 14 goals in its first six games this season, less than half the games it required to reach that make in the 2016 season (13 games).
