First goal for Louisville was standout strike against Cincinnati

TAMPA, Fla. – Louisville City FC’s Brian Ownby’s long-range striker has been voted the USL Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for Week 5 of the 2017 season, as Ownby’s first goal for his new club highlighted the River Cities Cup clash win FC Cincinnati this past Saturday.

Ownby’s goal benefited from a strong build-up on the right side as the winger combined with Sean Totsch and Kyle Smith to move into the right channel. A skillful turn past an advancing defender opened up the space, and Ownby laced a finish that caromed in off the left post and into the back of the net.

Ownby’s goal received 57 percent of the poll conducted online at USLSoccer.com that concluded on Thursday morning. The Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ Marshall Hollingsworth finished second with 15 percent for his long-range blast against the Richmond Kickers, while the Charleston Battery’s Maikel Chang took third place for an excellent low shot against the Tampa Bay Rowdies with 11 percent.
