Seattle Sounders FC 2 news and notes

  • Current record: 2-2-0, 6pts

  • Seattle scored twice early to earn a 2-1 victory against the LA Galaxy II last Saturday night as goals by Felix Chenkam and Nouhou Tolo earned the visitors victory at StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium.

  • Tolo was named to the USL Team of the Week as he also put in a strong shift defensively with three tackles and two interceptions.

  • S2 has alternated losses and wins in its first four games of the new season, and will be hoping to snap that streak as it returns home after a two-game road trip.

  • Midfielder Zach Mathers is tied for 10th in the USL with nine chances created so far this season, but has yet to record an assist in the 2017 campaign.

Real Monarchs SLC news and notes

  • Current record: 3-1-0, 9pts

  • The Monarchs saw their three-game winning streak to start the season come to an end as they fell 2-1 to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC last Saturday night at Weidner Field.

  • Sebastian Velasquez scored his second goal of the season as the Monarchs held 69 percent of possession in the game, but Real was unable to find an equalizer despite plenty of second-half pressure.

  • Real will be without Charlie Adams on Saturday as he serves a one-game suspension for a red card against the Switchbacks.

  • Adams has recorded three assists so far this season, and also leads the USL with 16 chances created in four games.

Series Notes

  • Seattle holds a 2-1-1 edge over the Monarchs all-time after going 1-0-1 in the regular-season series a year ago.
