Saint Louis looks to rebound from first defeat against winless Charlotte

FENTON, Mo. – Saint Louis FC welcomes the Charlotte Independence to Toyota Stadium – Saint Louis on Saturday night with the hosts looking to rebound from their first defeat of the season, and the Independence aiming for their first victory. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.

Saint Louis FC news and notes

  • Current record: 3-1-1, 10pts

  • Saint Louis fell for the first time this season in its last outing, a 4-0 loss against FC Cincinnati in front of 23,144 fans at Nippert Stadium last Saturday night.

  • The contest marked the end of a three-game winning streak for the side, and the second time STLFC had been held scoreless on the season.

  • Saint Louis is 2-0-0 so far at home this season, having taken a pair of 3-2 victories against Ottawa Fury FC and the New York Red Bulls II.

  • Defender A.J. Cochran is tied for fifth in passes attempted this season with 281, and has made 33 clearances, 16 interceptions and eight blocks so far defensively in playing every minute of every game.

Charlotte Independence news and notes

  • The Independence were again left waiting for their first win of the season last Saturday as they drew 1-1 with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Eagle Field.

  • Charlotte fell behind early against the Riverhounds, but Jorge Herrera’s 41st goal all-time in the USL regular season quickly leveled as the side earned a point.
