River Cities Cup rivalry returns as Louisville aims to remain undefeated

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati and Louisville City FC will renew their rivalry for the River Cities Cup on Saturday night at Nippert Stadium with FCC looking to pull level on points with a City side that enters the contest undefeated in four games to start the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

FC Cincinnati news and notes

  • Current record: 2-2-1, 7pts

  • FC Cincinnati rallied to earn a 1-1 draw against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Wednesday night in front of 15,227 fans at NIppert Stadium in the USL Game of the Week on ESPN3.

  • Harrison Delbridge scored the equalizer in the 36th minute for FCC after Tampa Bay had taken an early lead through Marcel Schäfer.

  • Delbridge’s goal was the first by an FCC player other than USL leading scorer Djiby Fall this season. Fall was held without a shot on goal in Wednesday’s contest.

  • Cincinnati will be without winger Kadeem Dacres for the contest against his former team after he was sent off against the Rowdies on Wednesday.

Louisville City FC news and notes

  • Current record: 3-0-1, 10pts

  • Louisville remained undefeated this season with a 2-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Rowdies last Saturday in front of 9,074 fans at Slugger Field.

  • George Davis IV scored his third goal in as many games, and Cameron Lancaster scored a late insurance goal that ended up proving necessary as Tampa Bay scored late to end City’s bid for a shutout.

  • Cincinnati native Luke Spencer will return to face his former club on Saturday, with the former Xavier University forward having scored his first goal for Louisville in its 3-1 win against Orlando earlier this month.

  • Louisville’s Oscar Jimenez sits tied for fourth in the USL with 31 crosses, and has created seven scoring chances this season.
